Interlude + Anna Ting Möller

6 -9 PM

Interlude, an art party series, connects arts workers in a warm environment that encourages genuine conversations and authentic connections. This edition of the party will feature Smuggled Ill—a new performance by Anna Ting Möller.

Anna Ting Möller’s transdisciplinary practice is propelled by an overpowering story of origin. In 2015, she traveled to Yueyang, a humid and warm port city in southwestern China, in search of her birth mother, to no avail. Instead, a woman whom she stayed with gifted her a symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast (SCOBY), or what is colloquially referred to as a “mother.” Since then, Möller has been fermenting kombucha with tea and sugar using the same culture and transforming that kombucha into sculptures. In Smuggled III she presents an interactive performance, connecting her body to the live kombucha.

Opening and Care Communion

6 - 9 PM

6:30 PM Autumn Breon opens the exhibition with an interactive performance, Care Communion, a participatory ritual that gathers gestures of everyday survival into a shared act of collective care. As a soundscape carries voices of people recalling moments when they were nurtured or supported, a meal left at a bedside, a hand held in silence, a presence offered in a moment of fear, audience members share bouillie enrichie, a traditional dish that restores strength after blood loss. Each ingredient becomes a note, a movement, or a breath, until the room is filled with a chorus of care.
